A small, family-run team from Wantage – who we are, how we work and where we work.
Built on a family name
DG & Sons is a family-run carpentry and construction business based in Wantage, Oxfordshire, run by Harry George.
We’re a small team, and we like it that way: you deal with the people who do the work, from the first call to the final sweep. Most of what we build is for homes – pergolas, dining pavilions, verandas and lean-tos, oak porches, extensions and conversions – along with carpentry, landscaping and general building work.
Keeping all of that under one name means one firm is responsible for a job from start to finish. Where a job needs an electrician, we bring in a local electrician we work with regularly.
Trusted locally
Several of our customers have come back to us for a second job, and we build for local businesses and schools too: outdoor classrooms for Wantage Church of England School, a seating area at The King’s Arms in Wantage, a storage unit at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital, and a new floor for a Wantage nursery.

Five trades, one family firm
Outdoor & Timber Structures
Pergolas and dining pavilions, verandas and glass-roofed lean-tos, oak porches, garden rooms, car ports and outdoor kitchens – designed for your garden and built in timber.
Carpentry & Joinery
Site carpentry and made-to-measure joinery: roofs, floors and walls, doors and trim, built-in storage and the finishing details that make a room.
Landscaping
Patios and paving, timber decking, fencing, gates and brickwork – the hard landscaping that makes a garden usable, built on proper foundations.
Building & Maintenance
Roof repairs, painting and decorating, and general building work – one call for the jobs that keep a home sound.

Local to Wantage
We’re based in Wantage and work across the surrounding area. Recent jobs have taken us to Grove, Didcot, Abingdon, Steventon, East Hendred, Hanney, Drayton, Radley, Denchworth, Northmoor and Woodstock, and over into Berkshire at Lambourn.
